The concierge program
Personal math coaching, built around one child.
A weekly 1-on-1 with a dedicated mentor, a custom learning plan, and printed practice that adapts to how your child learns and remembers. For grades 4–8 in New York City.

Who it's for
Every child starts somewhere different.
Building foundations
For students who need gaps closed — calmly, one idea at a time — before they move on.
Ready for more
For students who are bored by the pace in class and ready to stretch their thinking.
Preparing for the SHSAT
For 6th–8th graders preparing for NYC's Specialized High Schools Admissions Test.
How it works
Twelve weeks, from evaluation to mastery.
- 01
Free initial evaluation
Your child completes 5 worksheets over one week and hands them in at the end of it.
- 02
A 12-week plan
The results show where your child is on the curriculum graph, and set the plan for the next 12 weeks.
- 03
Every week
5 new SMART Worksheets that follow the plan, and a 45-minute 1-on-1 session with their mentor.
- 04
Monthly updates
After weeks 4 and 8, a short re-evaluation updates the plan, and you get a written progress report.
- 05
Final evaluation at week 12
A last evaluation shows how far your child has come and sets out what comes next.
- 06
Parents in the loop
A short progress note after every session: what clicked, what's next, and how to help at home.

- Every week
- A new set of worksheets, rebuilt from your child's answers and confidence marks.
The learning science
Why it works.
Spaced Repetition
Problems come back right before they'd be forgotten, so skills move into long-term memory.
Read the essayConfidence + Competence
Students mark how sure they feel on every problem. That signal shapes next week's worksheets.
Read the essayProductive Struggle
We protect the useful kind of difficulty, the kind that builds persistence rather than anxiety.

Students move on when they truly understand, not when the calendar says so.

Questions
Frequently asked.
Who is the program for?
Students in grades 4–8 who want to build strong foundations, close gaps, get ahead, or prepare for the SHSAT. Some families come to us because a child is struggling; others because their child is ready for more.
What happens in the free evaluation?
Your child completes 5 standards-aligned worksheets for their grade over one week and hands them in at the end of it. We review them and send you a clear picture of strengths and gaps — whether or not you join the program.
Are sessions in person?
Yes. Weekly sessions are in person in New York City. If weather or something else gets in the way, we move that session online so your child doesn't lose the week. The daily practice is always on paper.
How much time does it take?
About 30 minutes of focused practice a day between sessions, plus one 45-minute 1-on-1 each week. The program works when families commit to that rhythm.
Why screen-free?
Writing math by hand slows students down in the right way. Worksheets are printed, so practice time is practice time — not notifications.
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes. Limited scholarships are available for families demonstrating financial need. Email info@ackacademy.org with the subject line “Scholarship Application.” You can also sponsor a student with the subject line “Sponsor a Student.”
